Blue Mountain evenings

Me and the good lady wife had our first experience of Blue Mountain in the evenings, yesterday. For those unaware, it is now open until 8pm on weeknights and has a license to serve beer and wine. Thursdays is the curry night and I must say that the Chicken Curry was very good indeed and excellent va...

I actually had a look round the premises about 8 weeks ago and the agent said that there were two national chains intrested in the premises and one local organisation interested. He didnt say who but suggested it would not require a change of use (currently A2). He also said that the national intere...

Traveled on the ELL today from Hoxton to New Cross in 19 mins significantly reducing my journey, but more than that, what a pleasant commute! Wide, spacious and cool carriages and the overground section from Whitechapel north has a feel of riding the New York High Line railway. It gives you a whole ...

Blue Mountain drinks license

I was in there today and noticed an array of Blue Moon pint glasses. Blue Moon happens to be one of my favourite beers, so out of curiosity I enquired as to why they had these glasses on display. The woman I spoke to was a little unsure, as she said that had just recently appeared, and I responded t...

Market Research

Hello to all, I know that there appears to be quite a lot of threads relating to people's consumtpion habits at the moment, but I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions, to assist with some similar market research. A relative is looking to invest in developing a retail busin...

Has anyone considered canvassing the Neighbourhood Manager (I presume this is the Jane you speak of) about setting up a Business Imporvement District (BID) for Sydenham Road and Kirkdale. This is a model that has worked incerdibly well in other town centres (or natural business communities) that nee...

I personally find Crystal Palace a more enticing night time and day time offer particularly when we have friends or family to visit. Medditeranea, Exhibition Rooms, White Hart, and Westow are all favourites of ours and there are an abundance of nice cafes. I don't think Sydenham suffers in terms of ...

This shows the group of shops some years ago when still fairly intact. They were part of what was Sydenham (and Forest hill's) original shopping centre, laid out in the 1830s and known until the 1930s as the High Street. Olwen Carthew and the PO are the two shops the developers want to demolish. So...

NDC grants are small area based funding programmes, there are 39 across the country based in select Local Authoirty areas that suffer from high levels of deprivation. There are 10 across London but there can only ever be one NDC area in each host borough and Lewisham's is in New Cross. They are prev...

I'm a regular user of Kente on weekends, and I must say as someone living in a flat without any open space, their courtyard has been my salvation throughout the summer. NDC's are relatively very well funded regeneration partnerships, and such a scheme will not have been cheap. I agree with the basic premise of the post, in that the high street looks very rough round the edges, however suggesting this is a local authority issue is missing the point. NDC's are about ...

Weeble, makes a very good point. 'We are wear we are', given the current economic climate it is now surprise that this planned development is high on density and low on architectural significance. The developer just wants to get the flats up as quickly and at as little cost as possible. If this can ...
