Re: New Marks and Spencer at Bell Green
Or does FHSoc hold a view that the area of Perry Vale, Bellingham and Lower Sydenham are not deserving of a new M&S outlet? I believe so. To object to creating jobs, with the cachet of an M&S in an area in need of regeneration is a bit fishy. FHSoc might be full of snobs. It feels like anot...

Re: Constituency changes after the General Election
Lewisham West should stay safe Labour. So should West Dulwich & Norwood. More interesting is which way the previous Beckenham constituency goes. It's picking up Penge/Cator Park Labour wards and the troubled Conservative MP is not standing. With the predicted swing it could switch. Every vote t...

Re: Thames water and the vomiting bug (cholera) in Sydenham
It's good to hear Thames Water is testing and I would hope (with their current reputation) that they shout from the rooftops if no evidence of dirty water is found. Trust in them is at rock bottom and I hope they realise this and reassure communities appropriately. I don't want rumours of dirty wat...

Thames water and the vomiting bug (cholera) in Sydenham
Oh dear I’m boiling my water for a while https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/25/thames-water-vomiting-bug-cryptosporidium Thames Water has sent samples of water for lab testing after dozens of people reported becoming unwell with stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea in south-e...

Re: Licence application for gambling……
And the next step from this firm is to apply for a loosening of their licence to 24 hrs in a year's time. Couple this with allowing debit card usage in casinos plus allowing more higher stakes machines and this really is quite grim news for gambling addicts and the rest of us combined. Nothing to d...

I voted green x3. Not expecting anything from it. But really struggling to vote Labour, based on interactions with the council over a long period (though I have had recent productive conversations with Louise Krupski, who is now deputy mayor, about the litter issues). I really think it's time some ...

How did it go? I’m going for speed humps on my roadAndrewMorris wrote: ↑28 Jan 2024 11:50 Small fixes can make a big difference. On my street, we're dealing with potholes that are like craters – gonna report them and hope for some asphalt magic.

Re: Did you vote?
The reason why we, unlike so many other boroughs, don't have decent cycle lanes lies nearer home. The original City Hall Superhighway plan was to bring one to Sydenham. That was squashed by a certain mayoral petrolhead (allegedly). I have to admit the Count had the most impressive manifesto: https:...

Did you vote?
Hey, I voted Count Binface. I want proper cycle lanes so there was no way I’d vote for Sadiq again. Johnson was a disaster but he did have some ideas and we nearly had a cycle super highway!

Re: Broken window theory
Thought this was yet more roadworks until I looked a little closer. No hole. It would appear some local flytipper has gifted Lawrie Park Gardens this present for Christmas. Lewisham Council Taxpayers will have to pay to get it carted away. https://social.brainsys.com/system/media_attachments/files/...

Re: Bell Green Public Transport improvements
Happy Christmas to everyone in Bell Green. This is your update on what's been happening in 2023. Gasholders site- Barratt London. Having withdrawn their previous application at the last moment, Barratt submitted their new application weeks ago. It still hasn't been published, which suggests Lewisha...

Afternoon all,
I thought I’d share a few small wins. Since my zero tolerance stance to mess begun my neighbours are bringing their bins in and the council trimmed a massive hedge that hadn’t been touched for years!!
