Having looked at the menu for El Ruedo on here yesterday, myself the wife and a friend decided to go for dinner there last night. While the decor, lighting and the sign outside still need some work we all agreed that the food and the service were fantastic. We shared several dishes from the tapas me...

Bloody hedge...

Does anyone know of a decent gardener type who can sort my hedge out? The thing is a bit of a monster and I'm fed up of doing it myself. Some of the houses on the Thorpes seem to have beautifully tapered hedges and mine looks very shabby (and about 8 foot high).

Thanks. I took him to the vets this morning; they were really helpful and able to trace the owner through his chip so they know now.

Dead cat

If anyone in the Mayow Park area is missing a black cat with a bluey/green collar with what looks like the word 'vintage' on it, I have him. He was on the pavement in near the top of Adamsrill Road and I couldn't stand to just leave him there so I got a cardboard box from a house nearby and took him...

Not sure why although when I walked up Bishopsthorpe on Sunday early afternoon there were 2 police cars and a van so I would have thought they were possibly looking for more than one bad egg. There was an officer up on the scaffolding outside one of the houses at the Mayow Road end and those houses ...

I think either you went on a good night or we went on a bad one. The wife had fishcakes (definitely not home made) and I had the sausage & mash. I am fairly sure that both meals were microwaved. Whilst pre-prepared or packet food is not the worst crime in the world, if I am spending £8 or £9 on ...

I've been in Sydenham just over 2 years but have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant or takeaway. For Indian/Bangladeshi I would definitely recommend Kafe La round the back of Forest Hill station (opposite Dawes for Doors) for eat in and takeaway.

Please think about Sydenham Road, then I won't have to walk under that stinking cesspit of a subway between Perry Vale and Dartmouth Road to get to your coffee shop.

Well I went to the Dolphin opening night and thought it was great, and for me it is slightly nearer to home than TDA. I would consider myself somewhere between working & middle class, grew up in a large 'village' in Kent, went to a comp, started work at 16 and have never had more than 3 weeks of...

You're not wrong. I lived in Maidstone until a couple of years ago, they decided to build a great big new shopping centre on the edge of town (even though they already have a giant indoor shopping centre which is half empty) and a main drag street of shops. The new shopping centre is all shiny and f...

Thanks Juwlz, I can't say I'm particuarly bothered there are loonies everywhere and if they're gonna get you they're gonna get you! I just thought it was rather ironic having seen this thread going on for a while. That said I work in the finance industry and I know exactly how easy it is to trace pe...

Funnily enough there was an article in one of the freebie papers yesterday about a man who was tracked down and murdered by someone he had been rude about on a chat room! I tried to find the article on-line so I could add the link but the throwaway's don't seem to keep the same kind of archives the ...

Fantastic news, and I'm also glad it's at the lower end of the high street, rather than up near the train station. I will do my best to spend as much money in there as I can and hope evryone else who has been waiting for a decent pub does too.

How do you know my real name isn't 'Stringfellow'? I could be a down on his luck strip club owner. It isn't by the way but I am skinny. I have a fairly rare surname and would be easily traceable otherwise and just in case I decide to write something completely offensive I'd rather remain anonymous! ...

Hi Jules We looked at the Queens Hotel for any guests staying after our wedding and it didn't take long to realise I did not want any of my family or friends having to stay there, the reception area is ok but the room we looked at was straight out of a 70's Australian soap opera and some of the othe...
