Post and snow
Post and snow
Anyone get any post yesterday? Do theRoyal Mail just give up when it snows?
Re: Post and snow
We had two deliveries yesterday so I dont think they've given up. Would expect some disruption though.

Re: Post and snow
First post since Thursday or Friday this morning, delivered by a manager rather than a regular postperson. We share a route with Thorpewood Avenue where apparently the uncleared ice and snow lying on the steep steps of the front gardens of the houses on the south side of the road constitute a safety hazard. So no deliveries for anyone on the route, apparently.
Re: Post and snow
You would think an effort would be made!! When we first moved into the area, our "REGULAR" postman used to come out on his bike and deliver in any weather, now he has sadly retired and we get different odd-bods doing the deliveries when they feel like it [not in the snow].But I always see the City Link guy out, he has no problems.
Re: Post and snow
Oh yes but City Link's base is at least in Sydenham. Whereas we have to rely on that northern polar anomaly called Forest Hill to deliver our mail these days. Remember Silverdale ... deep in the heart of God's own paradise!

Silverdale near old sorting office a paradise. What would you call a dump.
Re: Post and snow
We didn't have so many problems with the post when the sorting office was in Silverdale.
Re: Post and snow
Not wishing to be a contrarian or anything but I was surprised to receive a package in the post this morning that was posted on Saturday afternoon. When you consider the chaos around the country, my experience tells me the Post Office are doing their best. I doubt they would do any better if they were privatised.
