HOME PARK OUTDOOR GYM & OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

It's open.
It's free.

Today I saw people of all ages using it. It was great to see. I had to ask the children using the equipment to jump off for a second while I took the pictures (as you probably know, you aren't allowed to photograph children without consent).

We also now have 5 side pitches and 100m running tracks marked out in the park.

This is now well used by local schools and community.

Of course there is also the family fun day and outdoor film screening on the 12th August.

The outdoor gym is great fun and it's FREE :!: It's also a wonderful way to meet and chat to neighbours. Every time I've been there almost every piece of equipment has been occupied by those young and old. A fab addition to the park. :D

I'm also pleased to see this park getting used to it's full potential, excellent!

I'll have to pop over the road in the mornings to start a new gym regime.

Spent an hour in Home Park this afternoon Only 15 minutes were spent at the adventure playground, however. It was being well used, but there were a lot of little kids in there (age six and under). My two (age 12 and 9) felt they couldn't relax because they were always trying not to bump into the little ones. There were also plenty of adult play workers guiding the play, but again this made my kids feel inhibited. At that age they want to be left to get on with it without grown ups hanging around. It didn't feel like a proper space for older kids, which we hoped it would be.

The big hit of the afternoon, however, was the outdoor gym. My kids absolutely loved it - it's like playing in the park, but feeling kind of grown up too. And I managed to sneak in a bit of a work out while spending time with my kids. My kids now want us to make trips to the outdoor gym a regular part of our schedule. Not sure I can keep up the pace.
