I should perhaps now add - not on behalf of FOMP but simply as a member, by virtue of being someone who uses and/or lives near the park
Constitution: Friends of Mayow Park 2010 wrote:4. Membership is open to all those who use and/or live near the park.
that some changes to the constitution are now proposed:
Constitution: Friends of Mayow Park (Revised Dec 2011) wrote:4.1. Membership of the Group:
• Shall be free until such time as it becomes necessary to charge
• Those who support the aims of FOMP
• Members of the group will be those who attend meetings
The aim of FOMP is still
to generate interest in and greater use of Mayow Park in Sydenham. In furtherance of this object, FOMP wish to
• Develop an appreciation of what the park can offer;
• Encourage positive attitudes to the care of the park and reduce vandalism;
• Promote a responsible and constructive outlook to the local environment;
• Develop links with local community groups and voluntary organisations;
• Maintain links with Lewisham Council and its contractors.
There is also a new section of the constitution
16. COMMUNICATIONS:
...
16.3 Additional communications shall be by notices placed in the park notice board or through our blog and Facebook page.
16.4 Should any member wish to communicate on behalf of FOMP via other networks they should seek approval by informing the Chairperson or the Secretary.
16.5 Press releases and other public communications must be approved by two other elected officers of the committee
which I suspect is intended to outlaw my independently writing anything about FOMP here publicly, or anywhere else. However, I don't think I have ever claimed to writing
on behalf of FOMP, and if I have ever given that impression, I am sorry. On the other hand, anything I have written which supports the good work of FOMP,
such as this, even if not on their behalf, can surely only be to the good.
