In for the 15th
Re: 5-a-side footie
I would like to also emphasise, that whilst the 5-a-side footie is mostly comprised of 'regulars', that the group are actively looking for additional players. This can be on either a regular or casual basis.
No particular playing standard, and no general fitness requirements. Both will improve through regular playing, and you can also take a breather during the matches. (as i did for half the game yesterday)
At the moment, weather conditions being arctic, players should have a hardy constitution.
In the Spring, I would expect a surge in interest, particulary for the after-match drinks in the bar with Sky Sports screens and plenty of seating.

Re: 5-a-side footie
Afternoon boys,
I was one of the two newbies yesterday so cheers for having me, enjoyed the runout.
Both myself and Steve (the other new bloke from last night) are keen to come down regularly although Steve is actually away now until after Xmas.
I however, am in for next week.
See you then
Ben (the other one)

5-a-side footie
First, big thanks to Diamondmaker for all his work as manager over the past few months.
Second, welcome to the new boss. It seems we had two new signings at the last game, so Donny is clearly keen to shake things up!
Third, I'm in for Wednesday.

Re: 5-a-side footie
Erm, whilst I share your excitement at Donny's upcoming tenure I think our thanks should also be extended elsewhere too.
If it weren't for the Fowler brothers I don't know if we'd have much/any of a game most weeks. I'm not just saying this as Ben now lives 3 doors away and Saul almost directly opposite but consider where we'd be without the Balham Boys connection (ex and current)?
This week Joe P brought Steve and Ben from his workplace and his mate Paul drove all the way over from somewhere north of the river. When you factor in Droidy (again Ben's workplace) and the fact that Phil might not be able to play if he didn't stay at Ben's occasionally...
So, thanks where you feel it's due but we really ought to consider the contribution of the 'fireboxers' a little more when we're backslapping at being able to play in such cold and so close to Xmas?
Not to denigrate the efforts of the Sydders regulars, of course.
Edit: Depending on numbers could we have a Sydders v Balham game next week please Donny?

Re: 5-a-side footie
Aw shucks - kind words Ulysses but no thanks needed (...really); just like the rest of you guys, I want to play regularly and it's always been the best way to try and get the numbers. even more of an imperative now we've had a taste of the 7s.
Now I'm in Sydenham I'm impressed the Balham guys make the effort to get across, expecially as Droidy and now Ben don't have cars.
And I'm in for next Wednesday too.

i have stripped some skin off my heel, which is very painful to walk with. however, i'm still up for the game.
a bonus for some players is that i'll be driving there. i'll be leaving the Bricklayers Arms area on Dartmouth Road at around 8pm, and driving to Cobbs corner , and then down sydenham road to bell green, and onto Goals
i have 4 passenger seats available to anyone who wants a lift there/back.

Phil is out but Ryan will be coming along to push up the numbers
Re: 5-a-side footie
I make that 13 so have upgraded to the sevens pitch, hopefully no drop outs and room for one or three more....
