Afternoon all,
I've recently come across an interesting concept, that of the Open House London (http://www.londonopenhouse.org/index.html), which seems to be an initiative 18-19th September to showcase the capital's architectural highlights.
Having dug a little further on the site, it seems to extend to Croydon and Lewisham. Specific note has been made of the Lewisham Gateway and regeneration of the Sydenham High Street.
Some of the events/venue I believe can be checked here.

Not sure if anyone knew of this but I wanted to share with the locals.

You can also see the Capitol in Forest Hill - I've been before, and well worth seeing the bits you wouldn't normally see if you just went in for a drink - hopefully it will be possible to go on the old balcony on the first floor.

I prefer 'roost', Eagle. Seeing as that apart from the odd electrician, the only things that ever go up there are Pigeons.
That said, I'd be lying if I said I've never been interested in having a look up there myself.

I have been up there a few times when still a Cinema. Looks so small now , seem to remember it as much larger.
Nearest cinema as a child was Granada , Sydenham but also frequented ABC Capitol , Granada Upper Norwood and Odeon ( Moon and Stars ) Ponge.

My mum insists that she saw Ray Charles perform live in The Capitol.. was it only a cinema or also a venue ? (sorry, a bit OT!)
