Re players, if you are a player short for tonight, my son Nick could play, although it sounds as if there are enough peeps for the team(s) already?
He's not keen to come and watch on the offchance, since dusk is mosquito time, eek! but please shout if another player is needed as he'll "step up" if anyone can offer a lift to the ground.

Mosy, the pitch is only booked a week in advance when we reach a threshold of 8 committed players.
Modern life being what it is, people sometimes drop out at the last minute.
However, we rarely seem to have an excess of players. On the rare occasions that there are more than 12 people (we also play 6 a side), we are quite fair in rotating players, so we all get a decent run on the pitch.

Thanks for replying ALIB. Son's decided that as you're OK, he'll stay out of the skeeters' way and has made other plans now so won't need a lift.
@Trickster, there seem to be loads of ideas about sensitisation - e.g. fine till first bitten, then gawd help the beeline they make for you after that. Some repellants seems to work for some but not other peeps. Lavender, a good old fashioned manly fragrance you understand lol, is supposed to be good as is citrus, but the little blighters can be pretty determined... Good luck tonight.

PS to Trickster: For serious itching, could spray with scent or aftershave, then put a silver plaster on (Elastoplast does them). Stops you from scratching directly and the silver helps heal the skin. Zinc is a good skin healer too, so could get a calomine and zinc cream (Vasogen) from the baby counter which helps, though that does dry white.
Edited for typos, tsk!

a good, if slightly uneven game tonight.
I am now officially taking players for 8pm wednesday 2nd September.

The nights are drawing in, and the weather seems to be a bit brisker, which is actually better than dying of heat exhaustion, and we have floodlights, of sorts. I know some players are keen to go up a level to the league that operates at the centre. If this means you are no longer available for a wednesday evening kickabout, then i would appreciate a bit of advance warning.
Next week would be good if we can get the numbers in to perhaps have substitues or player rotation. This is also because i still have £43 in the kitty and would like to be able to arrange a free match before the end of the season if i can get an increase in the excess cash. (I wouldn't want to be accused of 'doing a Terry Venables' and running off with the money) I can either put the money towards the next game, and thereby give an approximate entry fee of £2, or i can put the cash behind the bar.
So availability for next week and your vote for what i should do with the cash.
. . . . . .
and remember Palace play Man City in the Carling Cup tomorrow evening at Selhurst, kick off 8pm. Tickets will be available from the Box Office (£20 adults) on the night, but get there at least 40 minutes before kick off.
