Does anyone know what's happened? - lots of police and a large section taped off as I drove past this morning.

police tape
Yeah - I missed my train because I had to walk around the park, which was all taped off. Nothing on the BBC news, but I'll see if my friends (who live 2 doors over) heard anything.
Police tape = murder, non?

Thanks for the info Kate and sorry to be pedantic - but this is a serious criminal statement and we should be careful not to jump to published conclusions ahead of a coroner or police report.
Until then I suggest we treat it as a "rumour that an old lady may have died during a break-in" which would certainly explain the police response. I hope you understand. And of course our sympathies to those that may have been friends or family.

if it's relevant that people should know then it will appear in the press. There are, however, lots of good reasons why things don't get released to the press as I'm sure you understand.
One of the things police aren't hugely good at is informing the casual passer by; that's often because plods on the ground aren't too sure how serious (or not) the case is (or is going to be) so will often say nothing. If it is serious, then you'd probably find out in due course. If it isn't then noone is really going to be bothered to find the time to start sticking flyers in doors &c.

Hello,
I looked into this a while ago and was told it was a burglary. I did however call police again today (after reading these comments). I was told the large police response was because they were looking into the possibility of the case being linked to operation minstead. Google it for more info.
Don't be too alarmed though because, after investigating, police have ruled out the the link.
Hope that helps
