Re: Golden Lion pub
Apologies for being the boring voice of unsubstantiated reason (you'll see what I mean in a minute!) - I'm one for cheaper pints (as most people would I imagine) and feel a bit jipped when pints start getting towards £4 or more. However, not withstanding my Zero knowledge about the firm that run ...

The thread title refers to Southern Rail. I assumed any bitching which one might want to do about Southern would be best placed here.

Re: The nightmare that is Southern Rail....
And I assume from your rather patronising post you are old enough to have a Freedom Card and not have to pay for travel? At the moment I pay over £100 a month out of my net salary for the 'pleasure' of using Southern. The problem at the minute is the lack of transparent accountability and the ...

Re: The nightmare that is Southern Rail....
Issues aside, why don't you take a short bus ride or 8 minute walk to Penge East Station where there are faster more reliable services to Victoria? Ridiculous thing to post. 1) Penge East is in zone 4 whereas Sydenham is in zone 3. So it is more expensive. 2) My partner and I both work in the City ...

Re: Parliamentary Election Hustings
Jim Dowd really is a waste of space. Sadly people around here are too thick to look beyond the Punch and Judy politics of 'Labour good, Tory bad' and so he has a job for life.
We deserve better.

Has anyone contacted Jim Dowd about this? What was his response? This sort of issue is what MPs are for but given the member's interest in this I can him coming out of it smelling of anything but roses ultimately.

Yes, that has always struck me as quite bizarre. Not sure why it is like that when passing trade must be invaluable to the success of an event such as this.jonathan_har wrote:The stalls again were corralled around the carbuncle bench, turning their back to the street which seems crazy to me.

Re: Zanzibar motorcycle races on kirkdale
A point already made a few times but worth repeating. There is not necessarily a link between Zanzibar and these idiots who have been spotted the past few weeks driving quad bikes around Sydenham. It is not constructive to blame every incident in the local area on one bar or group. To do so only for ...

Re: Exciting new kirkdale developments?
My first post having been a lurker for about 6 months!
I only moved to Sydenham in December but am encouraged by the developments in the area in this short time. Hopefully they will turn Kirkdale into an exciting place to live for all sorts of people. Long may it continue!
