Re: Local Train Services
Right now we have the prospect of no Southern services and reduced Overground later this month. Best spend Halloween at home! Really confusing details here: https://www.timeout.com/london/news/south-london-will-be-massively-disrupted-by-train-station-closures-this-halloween-and-half-term-100124 I ...

Re: Local Train Services
The original twice an hour service was to Caterham. This now runs fast from East Croydon. One issue with terminating at East Croydon was platform availability (a through train takes only 2 minutes - a terminating train has maybe 10/15 mins which is fixed by the terminating availability at the other ...

Re: Local Train Services
I have also used the Elizabeth line and it is very quick and if anyone has not tried it, I would recommend it. I got from Whitechapel in East London to Ealing in West London in around 20 minutes.. that would take almost around 45 mins to an hour on the district line with all the stops it makes. The ...

Re: Local Train Services
Your question implies we're not already well served.. I'd argue that trains every 10-15 minutes into Victoria, London Bridge/Charing Cross and Canada Water/Highbury & Islington within a walkable distance of the centre of town is pretty enviable... Add back in the (forthcoming?) connection to East ...

Re: Constituency changes after the General Election
Lewisham West should stay safe Labour. So should West Dulwich & Norwood. More interesting is which way the previous Beckenham constituency goes. It's picking up Penge/Cator Park Labour wards and the troubled Conservative MP is not standing. With the predicted swing it could switch. Every vote there ...

Constituency changes after the General Election
Regardless of where you live in SE26, there are changes to who your local MP will be and where they represent after the General Election in July. For the vast majority of residents in SE26, you'll continue to be in the Lewisham West seat, which will now take on East Dulwich and lose Penge and ...

Whoopee. Did she attempt to persuade Southeastern to reinstate the rest of the services via Penge East, too? Every 15 minutes from around 0535 to 1020 and then around 1427 to 2057 on weekdays from June 3rd. Every 30 minutes otherwise. Incidentally Ellie if re-elected will no longer be the MP for ...

Re: Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich
Not all of SE26 will be in the new Lewisham West and East Dulwich constituency.
The Southwark side of Sydenham Hill along with Crescent Wood Road will continue to be in Dulwich & West Norwood, while those in the London Borough of Bromley will be in Beckenham & Penge.

Re: Southeastern trains to Lewisham, Cannon St ending
It's been an objective of Southeastern to increase the Victoria to Lewisham services to 4 trains per hour, so diverting the current Cannon Street services to Victoria would do that and add new connections to Nunhead, Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill while keeping the ability to change at Lewisham for ...

194, 202 and 450 bus drivers on strike
You may have noticed that there have been no buses on routes 194, 202 and 450 today. This is due to a pay dispute at Arriva buses.
The strike continues tomorrow with a normal service returning on Wednesday.

Only one of the Freeview multiplexes, COM7, which broadcasts HD channels such as QVC HD and Russia Today is in the frequency range which has been allocated to 5G mobiles and that will close in 2022. Considering how close we are to the Crystal Palace transmitter, an indoor aerial in most ...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
It's one big soap opera isn't it? I've kept out of the petty politics behind SE23.life and just posted on local issues, yet it would be a shame if the local forum for Forest Hill was closed as SE23.com is simply poor. Maybe the best thing for Chris is to sell up to someone who can operate the ...

Re: Boundary Commission, revised proposals
Pengites aren't happy with the proposals which would see their Labour majority voters being lumped back into the Tory safe seat of Beckenham. (Same for SE26 voters on the Bromley side of the border). I largely support the Dulwich and Sydenham proposal, yet a shame that Bell Green will be in a seat ...

I hope the PO doesn't become like Penge where the PO shares with a mobile phone accessory section, an internet cafe and a section that sells wigs.

Re: 176 bus to be cut in November
I notice the nice new number 12s to Dulwich library are far more frequent though-wonder why that is? The 12s have also seen their share of cuts in recent years, going from every 4 mins to 5 mins but are still more frequent than the 176. Going back to the 176, while it has some reliability issues ...
