Folk Music and Ceilidh, St. John's Penge, 16th November
I've picked up a flyer for a concert of folk music (folk music meets classical, it says) followed by a ceilidh, on 16th November at 6.30 pm at St. John's Penge (next to the almshouses). £10 on door, cash or card, profits going to the Penge Debt Centre.

Alywin
May I suggest you email Chloe and Will, Lib Dem councillors for Beckenham Town who pressured to get the weekday services restored.
They also can be seen in person at the Waitrose cafe on the first and third Saturdays in the month. 0930-1100.

Services from Penge East will increase from mid December, with four an hour again both ways. 4 an hour to Victoria between 06.03 until 23.33. 4 an hour from Victoria between 05.57 and 23.27.

Re: Bus Stops - Temporary or otherwise
Space is always at a premium for setting up of temporary bus stops by TfL and it is recognised it is not always easy to make temporary arrangements. As we are witnessing in Sydenham now, several bus stops in sequence are closed and no temporary bus stops have been setup, leaving excessive ...

Re: Winter Fuel payment
Difficult. Do I think the bar has been set too high? Yes. But is there anywhere else it could reasonably be set? What would happen if there was a two-tier system, with a lower amount for those pensioners not on pension credit? Obviously it wouldn't cut costs so much. But I think last year's WFP ...

That last, I would certainly agree with. I wrote an email to loads of local councillors a few years ago, and simply CC'd her in so she was aware of the situation. She was the only one who replied ...

Well, if Chloe remains a councillor, perhaps that won't be a bad thing? I know she's been very communicative, which is more than I can say for certain other councillors.

Re: Did you vote?
Well Ellie is now Minister of State in the Cabinet Office (Minister without Portfolio).
Sounds nice - ministerial salary without ministerial responsibility.
I guess that means we will see less of her as a constituency MP
Is that possible?
Would someone like to explain? She's no longer my ...

SE26 residents in the London Borough of Bromley, such as those who live at the southern end of Lawrie Park Road past Border Road, Newlands Park, Crystal Palace Park Road and Kent House Road will be in the new Beckenham and Penge seat.
Hopefully they too will get a good MP. Is there actually any ...

Re: Thames water and the vomiting bug (cholera) in Sydenham
Oh dear. I had what I thought was a bit of a stomach bug last weekend, but it wasn't nearly as bad as these reports indicate.

By the way, I don't see any reference to "cholera" in the Guardian article.

Which set of tracks are you talking about - the Sydenham-Penge West ones, or the Penge East-Sydenham Hill ones? I can't speak from personal experience of having either of them down the back of my garden, but certainly from the opposite side of the road I can't think there'd be a problem.

LB Bromley, reference ADE(TP)/RP/T100/763
Seems as though it might be a good idea to me, given how often you'd see one vehicle having to reverse down the road on encountering one travelling in the opposite direction.
Surprised to see that LBB thinks that both roads are in Penge, though, when ...

So that's what the "Road closed" in Penge was.
Makes a change to see those buses diverted down Newlands Park, instead of having the 75 and 194 diverted down Lawrie Park.

Re: TfL rules out regular London Overground trains to London Bridge
It is the upward leg to London that is the pain because the Southern train pulls into Norwood Junction and you have to negociate the poor stairs to reach the Overground platform. Which means if you have lugage, push chairs, etc it is really difficult, when all that needs to happen is for TfL to ...

I monitor Twitter/X for local news stories. There used to be a dozen or so a day. Now it's more like 1 or 2. The number of active posters* has reduced to one handful. Some have stopped, others post very occasionally. The local press (Newsshopper & SLP) did the same so their expanded stories have ...

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
The latest discovery is that Barratt's design showing Bell Green Works as a virtually ‘car-free’ development, with no parking on site, other than 8 blue-badge parking spaces, is wrong. In an appendix, it is revealed that TfL demands that an additional 18 blue-badge parking spaces be available on ...

But LBG isn't on the Overground! Sorry, the Windrush line. Or the ELL, as I shall go on calling it.
Glad to know there is some prospect of getting the rest of the service reinstated, although it's too late for me. I presume there's no sign of similar movement from Southeastern via Penge East.
