Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

I tried "Pistachio" (formerly Garam Masala) last night, ordered a takeaway. Lamb jalfrezi tasted good- well spiced, very pleasant but I found the the onion bhajis too flat and dry. Aubergine bhaji was lovely. See what you think?

Re: The Restaurant that can't make up it's mind.

Yes G-Man - at your request I might just pop into the new restaurant and gently suggest that following the very brief market research on this forum, we would love to have good turkish cuisine (not that I'm expecting them to take the slightest bit of notice). Will that do?

Re: The Restaurant that can't make up it's mind.

I agree with the posts highlighting that you'd think it would make commercial (and financial)sense to open a restaurant serving food not currently available on the high street - indeed filling a "gap" in the local market. Thai, Greek, Turkish, Lebanese spring to mind, although there are countless ...

Re: Baroness Mary Warnock & Lucy Mangan to lead read-in!

Saturday's Read-In at Sydenham Library was a fabulous event with an amazing turnout by local people, well-known guests and authors, well wishers and supporters of the campaign to keep Sydenham Library open. WELL DONE and THANK YOU to all the organisers, helpers and members of the public who made ...

Re: NEW RETRO/SHABBY CHIC FURNITURE/INTERIORS SHOP

140 Interiors - Sounds like a very welcome new addition to the high street. The best of luck with your opening in March. I'll certainly pop in for a browse (and perhaps a purchase?) :)

Re: McCoys Crisps = Free curry @ Garam Masala

Thanks for letting us know about this deal. I'll definitely be running out to get a McCoys crisps. Garam Masala's chicken jalfrezi, tandoori chicken and dal take some beating. As for the curry leaves, the chef and staff at GM are Bengali and I'm sure that Bengali curries do not tend to contain whole ...

Re: HOME PARK OUTDOOR GYM & OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

The outdoor gym is great fun and it's FREE :!: It's also a wonderful way to meet and chat to neighbours. Every time I've been there almost every piece of equipment has been occupied by those young and old. A fab addition to the park. :D

What's akin with The Dolphin?

Having been a regular at the Dolphin over the years, I was disappointed this weekend by the poor quality of the food served. Has the usual chef gone AWOL?/disappeared to South Africa?/left the kitchen to a 2 year old?(some might say that even a 2 year old could cook better than what was being served ...

Oh dear - maybe I should've checked the HerB Albert facts before committing to STF post! I guess I'll have to buy the first round if I can delicately creep onto someone's pub quiz team (am quite good on any questions relating to Desperate housewives - or lack of - story lines??).

Lee- don't mean to be pedantic but the world famous musician's name is "Herp" Albert I believe (which is unfortunate if you add an "es" at the end of his name). And yes, I agree with the previous post, as the front of "The Alfred" looks smarter and more inviting, I popped my head in this afternoon ...

Bigbadwolf - you 're just mean. I spotted the "flipping boy" the other evening and found him entertaining although dazzled and rather worried for his safety - he seemed to know what he was doing though and beats teens hanging around listlessly.

"Home Park is a no go zone for young children and families at certain times of the day - always easy to feel paranoid about not letting children play there" It's such a shame we are left feeling like this - Home Park has had a chequered past for such a small lovely space for local people to stretch ...

My deepest condolences to Nick's family. It's horrible what's happening to our young people in London. Such a tragic waste of life. Seeing the image of Nick's bike and his photo in the Standard just made me want to cry - I can't imagine what his poor family are going through! There has been a frenzy ...

I'm a wuss too when it comes to my gnashers. I used to go to ADP on the high street (close to Kwik Fit or more or less opposite The Prince Alfred pub and Kent house road. But felt that one of the dentists were a little too harsh on my sensibilities. So now I visit Maxident Clinic, 161 Bromley Road ...

There was an item on "The One Show" on BBC1 this evening. It featured a family who contacted the one show to ask the programme to uncover the mystery of who or what was tipping their peanut feeder (full of nuts) off the garden fence, on to the soil so that the feeder would become empty. The One show ...
