Hoo-"£$%$"£^&-ray. For the first time since April 2020. Too bad I gave up waiting and moved to a different line.

And I was thinking only the other day, as I tried to find a seat on the Vic-Orp service last Saturday, that we desperately need 4 trains an hour back on that day as well.]]>

May I suggest you email Chloe and Will, Lib Dem councillors for Beckenham Town who pressured to get the weekday services restored.
They also can be seen in person at the Waitrose cafe on the first and third Saturdays in the month. 0930-1100.

Really confusing details here: https://www.timeout.com/london/news/sou ... erm-100124
I've had a look at the upcoming timetable over the half-term week.

SOUTHERN: No service on Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th at all. On weekdays, services to London Bridge operate at different times to usual, these will operate at x02 and x32 past each hour. These operate from either Norwood Junction and Sutton. There is no service to Victoria. Normal service resumes on Saturday 2nd November to Victoria. Return services from London Bridge are at x05 and x35 past each hour which are for Sutton which call at all stations to West Croydon and then fast to Sutton.

London Overground: Saturday 27th and weekdays, there are SIX trains per hour between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon, so a reduction in service heading northbound and an increased service to West Croydon compared to usual. If you're using the Overground northbound, there will be a 8-15 minute wait depending on when you use the station.

On Sunday 28th, a reduced service of four trains per hour will operate on London Overground only between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon.

Penge West to West Croydon will see an increased frequency per hour of 6 trains from London Overground and 2 trains from Southern on weekdays.]]>

There is no pedestrian phase at all on the junction with Worsley Bridge Road and Southend Lane, which makes it very difficult to cross safely, particularly for children, so I have commented in the section about other aspects of Southend Lane in the hope that it may finally be redesigned if this proposal goes ahead.

A bus lane is of some help, but also has very large buses in it, which stop frequently, so not ideal.

I presume the bus lanes will be camera controlled to deter people simply whizzing down them...]]>

If the car parking in the outer lane of what is practically a dual carriageway, was removed, along with the wasted space for the central reservation, there would be space for a bus lane each way and a segregated, two way cycle lane.

Further down Southend Lane, they all park fully in the pavement and there is still room for pavement, when people keep their hedges trimmed...]]>

And then you have cars zipping through inches away from you.

It falls far, far short of the recommended guidance of 2m width for a pavement and is potentially a barrier to people with double buggies or wheelchairs.

The only reason I can see for redesigning the entire bridge, would be to allow double decker bus to use the road.

There are some delays getting into single file when approaching the bridge from Sydenham, but the main hold ups seem to be from queuing traffic waiting to turn right into Worsley Bridge Road. And from traffic backed up at the Sainsburys turn off in the other direction.

It has been said before, but a £1 million development payment was apparently earmarked for that bridge, but seems to have vanished.]]>

What has changed?

Presumably they are monitoring the toxic gases released and liquids pumped out - is there any public record of this? Has the site magically cleaned itself up?
idk - maybe if the waste is deep enough and they apply the right chemicals, and layers of clay, it does become stable and inert over time. Is this backed up by evidence?

Call me sceptical, but I suspect the only things that have changed are the regulations that now allow dangerous developments.
And the only monitoring of the site is the health of the children who eat the blackberries that grow there.]]>
